Life, A Country Song

Do you know what's crazy? Every person that has ever lived could have a country song written about themselves. People I have met have told me story after story, adventure after adventure, and heartbreak after heartbreak. All that could be put to a song.

That falling in Love melody playing in your head. Then you add the words of the person that changed your life. Put that through a final mix and your humming all day long. It is contagious, never-ending continuing to get better each time it crossed your lips.

But sometimes the reality is a hardship. The song is made up of bad memories and bad times. You go through the same process of the mix and adding melody but for its just not the same. It's, not your best work.

So everyone has something special to add to the music. Each of us has gone through something. The reality of it all is we live through it or get over it. So play that little song, no matter what it is.

So looking back on your life pick a point. Put into words, mix in the music and start tapping your foot. Because of, we have all gone through it and have gotten over it.

Sing a little song for me.

Have Love Enjoy Life and God Bless

Holy Mackerel

You know a lot of people use a statement, Holy Mackerel. Where did it come from?  Why do we use it and why do we say it. Very good questions if you ask me.

Recorded from 1803 with an uncertain origin, but possibly a euphemism for Holy Mary, with Mackerel being a nickname for Catholics because they ate the fish on Fridays. Another suggested explanation is the practice of selling mackerel on Sundays in the seventeenth century (because its quality deteriorates rapidly), so it was known as holy fish.

But why do we say it? I believe it is along the lines, that could be in a biblical sense. You do hear a lot of people use the term, Holy Moses, Holy Smoke, and Holy Mother of Mary. So it could be along these lines.

But, I need to look at it one another way. Holy Mackerel, we're having fish again. Holy Mackerel, can you believe the size of that one? Holy Mackerel, your not with this one or that one. Holy Mackerel.

Our Lord feeds the magnitudes, fish, and Holy Mackerel. Yes, not once, but twice. Holy Mackerel. Then to add to the Holy Mackerel, the disciples gathered the leftovers to come up with twelve more baskets. Holy Mackerel. Twelve disciples and twelve baskets, Holy Mackerel.

So the historians look at it with a date of about 1803 with an uncertain origin. I believe Holy Mackerel has been around a lot longer.

When God made the heavens and earth, Holy Mackerel.
