MARTHA STEWART MOM

Being raised by a Martha Stewart Mom

Being raised in a great family, there was one added bonus. It’s having a mom that did everything to the Nines. For those of you that don’t know what is the meaning of the nines?  Well, it’s doing things over and above average, being done to perfection.

My mom lives each day with a special twist in everything she does. Let me fill you in on some of what I mean. In our home, there wasn’t just a set table. Setting the table meant the proper amount of silverware per person, the right water glass, and the right amount of salt and pepper shakers. Butter in the ramekins and not butter dishes. There is a rule of thumb that for every four persons you need one set of shakers. People always ask me, “why do you know all of this stuff” well my Martha Stewart Mom taught me well. each part of the house is laid out to be and looks like a showpiece. Let me tell you, it looks awesome.

Today I can say that with all I have learned from my mom I can eat with the president, or sit at a table of dignitaries.  All of the other things learned. Like how to put the proper amount of flowers in a vase. Always being able to pick the right color palette for a room and having that proper table setting. The teaching from a mom is priceless and the list is endless. Knowing all of these things are an asset to my life and now my family.

Mom is a fantastic person with the greatest heart. Learning all of this is so precious never to be forgotten. These are learned qualities that can be passed down from generation to generation. Being able to go into the world well equipped and prepared. Mom is still is doing all things to the nines at eighty-plus years. She loves life and lives it fully.

I wish everyone could have a Martha Stewart Mom.

Have Love, Enjoy Life, and God Bless.
